USS CARL VINSON | US NAVY Friends and Family Day

Uss Carl Vinson

Catered for US NAVY Friends and Family Day onboard USS CARL VINSON CVN70. This event had MANY Logistical challenges.

Imagine trying to prepare food for over 4,600 sailors and their friends and families, getting access to the Naval Base, getting access to the Pier where the Ship is, getting all the food and equipment craned onto the Ship, using the Ship’s galley to cook the food and bringing up all the food to the Hanger Bay, then feeding all those people for over 8 hours at sea….

Ranch Events team was outstanding. I have to give them credit, watching them work was very impressive. What seemed to be a cluster, was a very organized and procient operation at work. Most of all, I appreciated their patience…. patience in getting all of their stuff onboard and getting it all off, which took several days.

Ranch Events was recommended to me, and I Highly recommend them. It was a pleasure working with them and look forward to future events.

USS Carl Vinson Strike Group Heading Back to San Diego

The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and its accompanying ships left the 7th Fleet area of operations as the Memorial Day Weekend began and are headed home to San Diego.

During the nearly 10-month deployment, warplanes from the Vinson flew missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, hitting targets in Iraq and Syria.

The Vinson’s strike group includes the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill and the guided-missile destroyers USS Dewey, USS Gridley and USS Sterett, all based in San Diego.

After leaving the waters of the Middle East, the the ship was involved in bi-lateral training with allied nations and made port visits to Perth, Australia; Phuket, Thailand, and Bali, Indonesia

Some members of the Vinson crew will depart the ship in Hawaii to reunite with their loved ones. This will open space for the many crew member friends and family riding the ship from Hawaii to San Diego during a Tiger Cruise.

“Although I would love the opportunity to witness and participated in all the homecoming festivities, I decided to depart in Hawaii and fly home to my family,” said Yeoman 2nd Class Tio Lathen.

“This is not my first deployment, but has definitely been one of the more rewarding ones. I was able to accomplish a lot and took advantage of the time spent at sea.”
