San Diego Weddings – Are “Unplugged” Weddings Possible??

People are become increasingly aware of how annoying their phone addictions can be.  So many couples planning a wedding are considering in having it “unplugged”.  Exuberant guests and their electronic devices are ever-present at weddings and ringtone interruptions during the ceremony can be distracting and disruptive. Professional photographers are now saying guests have ruined some of their photos with cell phone camera flashes and by jumping into frames to take pictures. Brides and grooms who want their guests to fully participate in their big day have recognized it is very difficult to eliminate electronic devices entirely, so many nuptial couples have decided to have the Officiant ask the guests, before the wedding ceremony begins, to “power down” just for the duration of the ceremony.  This compromise seems to work well for enthusiastic guests and excited family members who want to take their own personal pictures of this special day.

Besides the Officiant announcement, another idea is to have the best man make an announcement ahead of the ceremony reminding everyone to turn their devices off.  A sign outside the venue can also be used as a reminder for your guest.  Whichever method or multiple reminders you choose, the request needs to be nicely put and include “PLEASE”.
