5 Fun Ways to Spend Mother’s Day

Posted on May 12, 2017

1.Mini Vacation

Even if you can’t afford to go to Paris for the weekend, you can still enjoy a little taste of France. Get some croissants for breakfast, pack a picnic lunch of French bread, cheese, and fruits or order a meal from your favorite deli or restaurant, and get the flavor of the country. For an added touch, adorn your kitchen or dining room table with red and white checkered tablecloth and fresh flowers, put some French music, teach the kids a few words in French, such as “bonjour” (good morning) and “merci” (thank you)

2. Movie Night at Home (Special Edition)

One good way to share family memories is to look at old photographs or home movies. If you live near Grandma and Grandpa, ask them to pull out old photos and movies of you as a child, and take a trip together down memory lane. Your kids will get a kick out of the styles of clothes you wore – not to mention the fact that you were once a baby, toddler, or teen.

3. Classic Breakfast in Bed

Give breakfast in bed a twist and let her sleep in and catch up on those Zzzs, then enjoy flapjacks and snuggles.

4. Book Mani & Pedi

Nothing says, “I love you, mom” like a good foot scrub and a fresh coat of polish. If booking a mani and pedi is out your price range, try bath accessories. Giving mom these simple pleasures is like giving her permission to take time for herself. You can get a bubble bath, bath salts, lotion or loofah. This idea does not need to cost a fortune. Do what you can.

5. Take a Hike

Whether the whole family comes or you go one-on-one, breathing fresh air on a mountain always feels like a welcome reset.
